Google Rank Check: How to See the Value Google Places on Your Page

Do you want to do a Google rank check?  Google’s page rank
is a patented algorithm.  Google considers more than half a
billion variables when determining your rank on the search
results.

No one person knows what all of these variables are – not
even the person who oversees the code.  So, anyone claiming
to be a Google rank check authority should be viewed with
caution.

Still, there are some things we do know about how page rank
works.

Google flat out says that pages they believe are important
get a higher page rank than others.  Pages with higher rank
tend to appear higher in the search results, though you will
see page rank 5 pages occasionally ranking higher than page
rank 7 pages for a specific search.

Google also sees the links on a page acting as a “vote” for
other pages.  So, if a highly ranked page links to your site,
you get more “juice” out of it than when a friend with no page
rank links to your site.

Most experts agree that backlinks from .gov and .edu sites
to have higher link juice than other top level domains because
they are restricted to not for profit sites.

One way to get .edu links is to take out online ads on college
newspaper sites.

But, any links from PR 2 or higher sites can help your page
rank.  One way to get links is to post comments on with
decent page rank.  But make sure that Google “follows”
the links on the page first.  Some webmasters set their
sites up so that you don’t get any link juice from your
posts.  You can do this by downloading free software on
the internet.

Other ideas for increasing page rank include:

·    Join forums and post a link back to your website in
your signature.  Every time you make a post, you’ll get link
juice.

·    Submit your site to directories.  Each directory which
lists you will give you more of a chance of being listed
higher in Google’s search results.

·    Add an ezine to your site.  Not only will this allow
you to keep up with the people who visit your site, but you
can also post information about your ezine to ezine
directories.

·    Publish articles on the article sites.  You can drive
traffic to your sites this way.  But, high PR article sites
also give you link juice.

·    Create a sitemap on your website.  This lets Google
know how to index your page.

·    Link to other pages within your web site.  Putting
links to the internal pages within the web site allows
you to increase your link juice.

·    Continue building pages within your site.  Every
page you create and link back to your home page increases
the strength of your home page’s PR.

To do a Google rank check, you can install the Google
toolbar to your Firefox browser.  The tool is at www.google.com/tools/firefox/toolbar/FT3/intl/en/index.html
-This will give you the page rank of every page you visit.

A Google rank check will allow you to know how your site is
faring compared to similar sites.

Monetizing Your Blog

Believe it or not, but it’s actually possible to make money from
blogging. One teenager has, in fact, earned $5,000 a month just
from making posts on his blog! Of course, not every blogger is
this lucky. It does take some skill, and some luck to make money
from blogging. What it also takes is some knowledge of how
exactly to generate income just by posting blogs. In this
newsletter, we will go over three specific methods of making
money on your blog: Adsense, Pay Per Lead, and Affiliate Links.

So how exactly do I make money on my blog?

You do it by working with another company that wants to use your
blog as a form of advertising. It sounds like selling out,
right? Not exactly. The advertising can be as in your face or
subtle as you want. And it can still make you money, provided
you have enough visitors to your blog.

What is Adsense?

Adsense is a program offered by Google. The program, if
installed, will display ads provided by Google.

How do I get Adsense?

You’ll need to go to Google.com, first. At the bottom of the
screen is a link for “Advertising Programs”. Click on that. Then
click on the link for “Adsense”. Scroll down on the page that
comes up and click “Click Here To Apply!” You then fill out the
form with information about yourself. After 12-48 hours, Google
will notify you via email whether or not your site has been
accepted. When you’ve been accepted, set up your ads by doing
either of the following:

1. If your blog is hosted on Blogger.com, you can set up your
AdSense ads by going to your profile, selecting
settings>template>add an element. Then select AdSense and login
with your account info. Next, you’ll configure your ads and save
the template. That’s it.

2. If you are self-hosting your blog, you’ll have to set up
AdSense in more of a manual way. You’ll create your ads(which
can be as small or as tall as you want) and then copy the
HTML/Javascript code Google gives you. Then you’ll paste it into
your blog(on the left, right, or top of the screen).

For the first few days, the ads displayed by Google will be
Public Service Announcements. After the ads have been up a few
days, though, the ads will switch to ads that are relevant to
your blog.

How does Adsense work?

Every time a visitor clicks an Adsense ad, you get a little bit
of money(usually around 30-60 cents). The amount you get for
each ad clicked depends on the number of unique visitors you
receive on your blog. The more visitors, the more money that can
be earned.

Google will then send a check or pay you through Paypal once
you’ve made at least $100 from the ads.

It is important to remember that Google will penalize you if you
click your own ads, or if you ask visitors specifically to click
ads. So don’t do that!

Pay Per Click

Pay Per Click is basically just like AdSense, except you don’t
just work with Google—you work with multiple companies.
BidVertiser is one such company you can sign up with to do Pay
Per Click advertising.

How do I get Pay Per Click

You sign up with a site like Bidvertiser and then follow their
instructions to set up the Pay Per Click ads on your site.

How does Pay Per Click work?

It works by paying you money each time someone clicks an ad that
you display. You won’t get paid for multiple clicks from the
same user in the same visitor, nor will you get paid for someone
simply visiting your site. You only get paid for legitimate
clicks.

Affiliate Links

Affiliate links are basically links which people pay you for.
Companies will actually pay owners of popular blogs to post
links on their blog. You can do as much Affiliate linking as you
want.

How do I get Affiliate Links?

You can get Affiliate links by searching for “Affiliate Link
Programs” on the internet. Once you find an Affiliate link
program that looks good to you, sign up for it. Then you can
follow their instructions for putting the link(s) on your blog.

How do Affiliate Links work?

Like the other two methods mentioned above, Affiliate links work
by paying you money each time they are clicked. You get paid for
each click per unique visitor.

So that’s it. There’s three legitimate ways to make money from
blogging. It is important to keep in mind that the amount of
money you are able to make depends on how many visitors your
blog draws. If you draw a lot, you’ll make a lot. If not, the
money you earn will be modest. But it’s still extra money, so
why not do it?

Submitting To Article Directories

Are you looking to increase the amount of traffic that your
website sees? If you rely on your website for income, there is a
good chance that you are. If you are unfamiliar with internet
marketing, you may have done a little bit of online research.
While researching internet marke*ting, there is a good chance
that you came across article directories. Article directories
are essentially online websites that display content, often with
links. These links should link rea*ders directly to your website,
whether it be an online store or a content site. When it comes
to article directories, one of the most common questions asked
is “is it worth the time?” In all honesty, it depends.

Submitting articles to article directories is a great way to
increase traffi*c to your website, but it all depends on the
approach that you take. If you are looking to benefit from
submitting articles to article directories, there are a number
of important factors that you will want to take into
consideration. These factors, which are outlined below, may have
a significant impact on the amount of traffic that your website
sees from article distribution.

As it was mentioned above, article directories are essentially
websites that display a collection of content. That content,
which is accompanied by links, is often placed into specific
categories, such as parenting, money, business, and so on. As
article distribution has increased in popularity, so have
article directories. This means that it is possible to find
hundred of article directories that are willing to accept your
articles and have them displayed on their site. While your
first impulse may be to submit your articles to every article
directory that you can find, you may want to reexamine your
decision to do so, as it can be time consuming. In fact, it may
be a good idea to research article directories, find, and submit
articles to the directories that are considered the most popular
or those that come highly rated and recommend.

It is also important that you examine how often you submit
content. As with your website, you are urged to update it often
or at least a*dd new content to it. After all, it is a known
fact that internet users like to see new, refreshed content.
The same can be said for the articles that you submit to article
directories. You will want to develop a schedule. Submitting
new articles to article directories a couple of times a week is
a good goal to have. In fact, the more you can submit, the
better the results are likely to be. The more articles that you
have distributed across the internet, the more links you will
have. This, in turn, will increase your chances of seeing your
website’s traffic increase.

Although producing and disturbing a large number of articles is
your best chance of success with article directories, you also
want to examine the content that you are submitting. It is
extremely important that your content is interesting, rea*dable,
and presentable. That is why it is important that you do not
rush when creating articles. In fact, it may be a good idea to
proofrea*d your articles multiple times, before distributing them
online. It is also a*dvised that you view your articles, once
they have been published online. Most article directories will
allow you to post links to your websites at the end of your
article page. For article directories to work to your benefit,
you need to make sure that rea*ders make it to the end of your
article. This is why interesting and rea*dable articles are
vital to your success.

As long as you keep the above mentioned points in mind, you
should be able to benefit from submitting to article
directories. To get you started, you may want to examine Ezine

most highly rated and recommended article directories online.

Windows Selective Startup:

Improve overall system performance and boot time
and get rid of programs you don’t want running in
the background by choosing to do a Selective Startup
in msconfig.

1. Click Start, Run and type: msconfig and press enter.
2. In the System Configuration Utility click the Startup tab.
3. Uncheck programs you do not wish to load each time your
computer starts. Once done click ok and restart the computer.
After the computer boots back into Windows you will receive
a prompt about Windows being in a selective startup. Check
the box to not receive the prompt and click ok.

Writing An eBook Step By Step

They say the best way to making money on the Internet,
is to create your own Ebook. Wow! That’s a simple statement,
but do you know what is involved. I’ll try to explain what I
have learned and I am learning while I’m creating my own Ebook.

Brainstorming

If you know what you want to create, you’ve already on your
way. But, if you’re not sure what information you have stored
in your years of living well, it can be difficult.

I’ve found the best way to brainstorm is to write your
ideas, experiences and knowledge down on a piece of paper
then do research to determine what people are looking for
on the net.

Research

To determine if your product, idea, or info-knowledge will
fly you must do research. Go to Wordtracker or Overture and
see how many times people in the month were looking for
what you want to write about.

This will give you an idea if it is a viable product.
Also do a straight search in Google and Yahoo for your
keywords, and see what turns up. Investigate some of the
sites, you may be surprised that you have a completely slant
on the information you want to present in an E-book which is
a good thing.

Writing

If you think your ebook may fly, then it is time to write.
Create it in Open Office Writer. This is a part of Open
Office which is a Software suite similar to MS Office, but
you can download it for fr.ee at http://www.OpenOffice.org

This will create your ebook.  But before you pull it into a
PDF, be sure to proofread your material.

Next, you can create an Ebook cover. Yes, I know, you’re on a
tight budget, so . . .look to Google.com — you can probably find
some free ebook covers that you can choose from, in which you
can add the title of the book onto the Ebook cover.

If you don’t find these free ebook covers to your liking
then you can purchase software to create your own ebook
cover or pay someone else to do it for you. I highly
recommend Planet Divinity for your graphics which you will
find at http://keithbowman.com/Likes/PlanetDivinity

Once you have your ebook completed, it is time to get it
out to the masses.

I would suggest submitting your ebook to Clickbank or
Payloadz. However, if this is your first ebook, I would
strongly suggest that you give Payloadz a closer look.
From my own research it is reasonable, you upload your
ebook to their server (which eliminates your need to make
your ebook available to the customer), and the payment
goes through your Paypal account.

As to promotion, I will leave that to you to research.

Print Only Sections Of A Web Page:

Save on your printer ink by selectively printing in Windows
programs such as Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, WordPad,
Outlook, etc. To do this highlight  portions of text you
wish to print and click print. In the printer dialog window
under Page Range choose the option Selection. It is important
to realize that not all programs or printer drivers support
this feature.

Affiliate Marketing Basics:

Affiliate marketing can provide you with the
opportunity to earn money doing what you are good
at.

Affiliate marketing can also allow you to use
your skills and expertise for your own financial
gain, rather than the financial gain of your company
or boss.

Finally, affiliate marketing  is one of the
easiest ways to start  your own home business
without a big investment or risk.

Affiliate marketing can do all of those things
and more. First, affiliate marketing is perfect
for the independent hardworking individual. Many
of us are stuck in day to day jobs. We work incredibly
hard and receive little reward. There is nearly no
incentive to work harder.

When you work in the field of affiliate marketing
(dare I say) the world is your oyster. You are
paid by your performance so the harder you work,
and the more money you will make. When you work as
an affiliate, you are working as a representative of
another company. However, your reward is directly
linked with what you produce. If you’re someone
who frequently gets good results at work then
this could be a great  opportunity for you.

Next affiliate marketing can provide the
opportunity to earn money by doing something
that you love and that you are good at.

If you have a knack for sales and marketing
then affiliate marketing may be perfect for
you. If you are creative and used to hard work
then chances are you will be able to make
an excellent living with affiliate marketing.
As an affiliate, anything that you do to increase
sales or traffic if it is Internet based will
benefit you directly. The company or boss that you
used to work for won’t be getting rich while you say
poor. You’re the one who will reap the rewards instead.

Finally, affiliate marketing can be the easiest
way for you to get started with your own business
at nearly no cost or risk. Many of us would love
to work for ourselves. The two main
reasons why  we don’t are the money and risk.

Traditionally when you think about starting
your own business you think about the amount
of capital you will need and the risk involved
especially when statistics show that  more than
half of small businesses fail in the first year.
Affiliate marketing can get you started working
for yourself with virtually no capital, and
no risk. Doesn’t that sound good?

When you start your affiliate marketing
business and join an affiliate program the
product owner provides the products, delivery and
most of the time the advertising materials. All you
have to do as an affiliate is concentrate on the
promotion and the selling.  Most affiliate programs
are free and you are paid a percentage of the sale
according to how many referrals or sales that you
make in their behalf.

If you have dreamed of working for yourself then
affiliate marketing can be your dream come true.
You can make money based on your hard work. You
are the one rewarded for your efforts, not a boss
or a group of shareholders. You don’t have to worry
about financial risk. The head company will take care
of all the detail allowing you to use your skills to
the best of your ability. If you’re creative,
hardworking and want to be your own boss, consider
the world of affiliate marketing. Your skills and
expertise could be increasing your bank balance,
not someone else’s.

Delete files faster by removing the “Are you sure
you want to delete” Microsoft Windows confirmation

Advertising Your Blog on Other Websites for Free: How
You Can Take Advantage of a No-Cost Strategy

There are several ways you can advertise your blog on
other websites without paying a single cent. The trick
is to find these channels and determine which ones
will work for you. Here are just a few techniques you
can use:

Advertise on other blogs. You could build a reciprocal
relationship with other bloggers, particularly those
whose content are related (but not necessarily
similar) to yours. If your blog is about gadget and
industry news, for example, you could advertise it for
free on another blog that offers gadget reviews.

By becoming partners with a non-competitor, you take
advantage of his market for the right type of exposure
without alienating anyone. It’s fair, it works and
it’s for free.

Use social media. Social media revolutionized many
aspects of the Internet, particularly because it
presents a new way of communicating and sharing
information. It broke many barriers, allowing people
from across the globe to build and join networks, both
for personal and business purposes.

Social media are sites that can be used to advertise
your blogs for free. Nearly all types of businesses
that exist on the Internet use social media for
promotional activities. The demographics here are
clearly defined, people can communicate in a more
personal manner and since social media is an accepted
platform for marketing, people who read your ads
regarding your blog are more likely to be receptive to
it. Best of all, advertising your blog on these
websites is free.

Use a network. To build buzz and gain momentum in the
blog universe, you need support from likeminded
individuals. Bloggers don’t really advertise
themselves actively against other bloggers. Instead,
they compete with one another by ensuring they have
better content and easier to use sites.

Although simply maintaining a good blog will help
attract other blogs wishing to link up with you, you
might also want to actively pursue associations with
other popular blogs. Many of the best bloggers around
are generous enough to give you a bit of support and
will gladly mention your blog in one of their posts.
Best of all, a network helps you increase your reach
for the same amount of effort.

Use article databases. Article databases are
repositories of write-ups that bloggers and site
owners use. If you choose this route, know that this
is a rather indirect way of promoting your blog. It is
quite effective nonetheless, particularly if you want
to build buzz regarding your ability to provide useful
information.

are, you will find an article written by blogger in an

will notice that the blogger had included his/her
name, a short description of himself, what he does,
the name of his company and a link back to his site.

Sometimes, a blogger might even include a few links to
some of his write-ups within the text of the article.
This is to entice the reader to click on the link and
find related information on the writer’s blog. Using
links in this manner allows you to advertise your blog
for free on a separate website.

There’s no cost involved here, particularly if you
wrote the article and performed the submission
yourself. If you prefer to spend a little bit, you
could also use copywriting and submission services for
a reasonable cost. While this isn’t free advertising
for your blog, you still get to expand your presence
using another website.

Sometimes, advertising can be quite expensive.
Though it is true that in the Internet, there are
a lot of marketing channels you could avail of
for free, often, you’d be competing with
countless ventures in the said venues. This would
result in difficulties with regards to having
your business message stand out among the rest.

Hence, quite a number of Internet marketers have
tried paid options. One of these is paid solo ads
in electronic magazines, or eZines. It is widely
believed that having a certain space in a
popularly distributed eZine would be a very
effective way of sending out your business
message. Let’s analyze further.

The Power Of Ezines

People subscribe to eZines because they want to
avail of the information that would be shared by
the said publication. Basically, they DECIDE to
receive the eZine issues. This points to a desire
on their part to be able to read about the
subject catered to by the said eZine. This is why
an eZine’s subscriber base is usually called an
opt-in list, because users opted to subscribe to
the service.

How could this benefit you?

Well, since eZines have a dedicated base of
subscribers, you’re sure to tap into a highly
targeted market. Often, the failure of most
marketing strategies is that they target a
general market. The people who would receive
their business message may not necessarily have
the minutest interest on their products.

With eZines, you’re sure to have a subscriber
base that would be perfect targets for your
marketing campaign? And why not? They, after all,
are subscribed to the eZine because they are
involved with its subject. There is no reason why
they won’t show the same fascination your what
you will advertise.

Choosing The Right Ezine For Your Solo Ad

There is one rule in choosing the right eZine for
your solo ad: it’s not the number of subscribers
that matter, it’s how responsive they will be.
You may find more success with an eZine that has
5,000 readers rather than one with 100,000
subscribers. Ezines with a smaller subscriber
base usually mean a more focused audience. These
are subscribers who opted for the service because
they really want to, not because they were swayed
by a sweeping promotional campaign that would
reward them with a freebie in exchange for their
subscription.

To know whether a particular eZine is responsive
enough or your needs, ask the editor the
following questions:

* What is the average number of subscribers that
decide to make some purchases per offer, vis a
vis the total number of subscribers the eZine
has? * What is the conversion rate exhibited in
the mailing list, per offer? * How many repeat
advertisements has the editor gathered in the
past months?

Writing Your Solo Ad

Once you have chosen the eZine that you know
would serve you well, it’s time to write your
solo ad. Keep in mind the guidelines below in
composing your promotional piece.

* Decide on a format. Should it be a straight
advertisement or an article that would promote
your business? I would recommend the latter.

* Craft an attention getting headline. The
headline is your chance to capture the interests
of your readers. This should be fascinating
enough to compel them to read the entirety of
your piece.

* Your ad is not a sales page. It would serve you
well to treat your ad as a means of capturing
leads for future offers instead of directly
selling your readers a particular product. People
would want to read an informative piece, and they
generally dislike being told what to do. Suggest
your business if they have relevant needs in the
future, instead.

* Make your ad concise. It doesn’t have to be
long. The longer your ad, the harder it will be
to sustain your readers’ interest. Go straight to
the point.

* Enumerate the benefits. This should be the
focus of your ad. What’s in it for them? Why
should they choose your business? Why should they
spend their hard earned money for what you are
offering, and what you will offer in the future?

* Impress upon them a sense of urgency. This
would be what people label as a call to action.
Tell them why they should act as quickly as they
could. For this purpose, you could afford them a
discount or free bonuses if they would decide to
buy your goods within a stated period of time.

These guidelines would assure that you will be
investing on a solo ad that would be worthy of
the money your will spend.

What is the so special about Wordpress? Wordpress is your simple
and easy way to set up a blog with minimal programming requirements.
Wordpress gives you a plethora of themes, theme resources, and the
ability to use images, and various blog designs and layouts. I can
elaborate all day about the basic features and benefits of Wordpress,
but I have to admit that most of us use Wordpress for one simple
reason. We use Wordpress to make money.

Here’s a quick example of how Wordpress can change the way you blog
forever:

You have a few websites and already are earning some decent money
from them so you have a full time programmer on retainer. You’ve
heard about Wordpress and how it would allow you to set up your
blogs with little or no effort.

You like the idea but don’t want to pay the programmer so you decide
to tackle it yourself. It’s easy to downloaded the pages and open an
FTP connection to your website. You then uploaded the documents and
set up the database connection. Within minutes, you are working with
a Wordpress setup on your website. It was that easy.

You can now set up all the theme, feeds, and template tags you need.
All done within an hour. After this, you would simply copy this
setup to other websites and change the header information to the
match requirements at your other websites. You  accomplish all this
in less than 30 minutes.

Best of all you didn’t need to take up your programmer’s valuable
time.

You can then go on to embed Google Adsense ads and other advertising
in the blogs. A few strategically placed links on pages that are
already indexed and your blogs are up and running!

Wordpress and high-end blogging tools like it can simplify the
arduous process of setting up a blog or blogging system. Wordpress
is VERY easy.

The basic steps to uploading the Wordpress tools are:

1)Instructions (Read them!)

2)Download the package. You should download the Wordpress tools and
extract them from the website package.

3)Create a website to upload the Wordpress tools to.

4) Upload the Wordpress files

5)Go to your website www.yourwebsite.com (index.php is the default
page that Wordpress opens to)

6)Go to your website and pull the MySQL database information (a)
Username,  (b) Password,  (c) Server Information [This information
will be available in your database control panel.]

7)Go to the website and answer the questions on your database (When
you start Wordpress on your website, it will ask you to answer
several questions, answer those questions with the database
information from #6.

8)Input your set up information, and set up the links and layouts
of the website

That’s it! Give it a try and you’ll see it’s not as hard as you
thought it was.

E-commerce is a cut throat business. You have to arm yourself
with the proper know-how and the tools to make your site a cut
above the rest. Each day, more and more sites are clambering to
optimize their rankings in websites and if you lose your guard,
you may just get trampled on and be left in the abyss filled
with so many failed e-commerce sites.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a term widely used today
by many e-commerce sites.  For the past few years and the next
ten years or so, search engines would be the most widely used
internet tool to find the sites that they need to go to or the
product or information they need.

Most people that use search engines use only the ten top search
results in the first page. Making it to the first page, more
so to the top three is a barometer of a sites success in search
engine optimization. You will get a higher ratio of probability
in being clicked on when you rank high. The more traffic for
your site, the more business you rake in.

But, it is essential to grab a hold of that spot or make your
ranking even better. As I aforementioned, each day is a new
day for all e-commerce sites to make them selves rank higher
using search engine optimization. It is imperative to make
your site better and better everyday.

So just what is search engine optimization and do you have to
use it? The answer to why you have to use it is an easy one.
You need search engine optimization to be number one, or maybe
at least make your site income generating.

With search engine optimization you can get the benefit of
generating a high traffic volume. Let’s just say you get only
a turn out of successful sales with 10 to 20 percent of your
traffic. If you get a hundred hits or more a day, you get a
good turn out of sales already. If you get only twenty to ten
hits a day, you only get one or two if not any at all.

So once again, what is search engine optimization? Search
engine optimization is utilizing tools and methods in making
your site top ranking in the results of search engines. Getting
yourself in the first page and better yet in the top half of
the page will ensure that your site will generate public
awareness of your site’s existence and subsequently generate
more traffic, traffic that could lead to pot.ential in.come and
business.

Search engine optimization requires a lot of work to be fully
realized. There are many aspects you have to change in your
site or add as well to get search engine optimization. These
will include getting lots of information about the keyword
phrases that are popular in regards to your sites niche or
theme.

You may also need to rewrite your sites contents so that you
could get the right keyword phrases in your site without
making it too commercial but light and informative. There
are certain rules and guidelines to be followed with making
your site’s content applicable and conducive to search engine
optimization.

You will also need to collaborate with many other sites so
that you could get link exchanges and page transfers. The
more inbound and outbound traffics generated by sites among
others are one of the components search engines uses to rank
sites.

Try to search the internet for many useful help. Tips,
guidelines and methods for search engine optimization are
plenty to be found. Read many articles that can help you
optimize your site in search engine results. The more knowledge
and information you gather the better. This will all help you
in getting those high rankings. This may require a little
time and effort in your part but the benefits will be astounding.

If you can part with some money, there are many sites in the
internet that can help you in search engine optimization.
There are many sites that help in tracking keyword phrases
that can help your site. There are also some content writers
that have lots of experience in making good keyword laden
content for your sites that have good quality.

Act now and see the benefits garner with search engine
optimization. All of these will result to better traffic
and more business for your site and company.
